Every Surgery Tells a Story
Meet Maria
Maria suffered from urinary leakage, an issue that can be fixed with a 30-minute surgery she could not attain. For years she lived with the discomfort and embarrassment, causing her to isolate herself from friends and family. She struggled to afford medical pads. Frequent trips to the doctor to treat infection meant her husband had to miss work and care for their children. Her condition was impacting her children’s education and her family’s ability to lift themselves out of poverty.
GSE prioritizes surgical conditions such as Maria’s because surgery provides a definitive fix that results not only in improved health and quality of life, but also promotes financial prosperity and social advancement. In collaboration with local physicians, GSE successfully treated Maria and provided surgical training and equipment to ensure local surgeons are equipped to treat more patients like Maria.
