About the Program
The Global Surgery Scholars Program is a structured, longitudinal educational experience combining didactic academic instruction with supervised international clinical exposure. The GSSP is designed for surgical trainees seeking to integrate global surgery into their careers. The curriculum integrates clinical care delivery, global disease burden, outcomes metrics, capacity building, advocacy, career development, and leadership in resource-limited settings.
Program Details
6-month didactic curriculum
Asynchronous guided learning designed to fit along with full-time clinical responsibilities
Monthly 1-hour virtual class with GSE faculty
1-week supervised international surgical outreach trip with GSE team
GSSP Certificate of Program Completion following course completion
Program Tuition: $5000 USD. Includes both didactic course and international trip (all travel included)

If you are interested in learning how to help reduce health disparities on a domestic and global scale then you are eligible!

Yes. GSSP graduates can participate in surgical outreach trips pending trip availability and need. Common team needs include surgical nursing and technicians (pre-op, PACU, OR), CRNA, CAA, physical therapy and other clinic-based professionals. Finally, some trips have options for general volunteers.

GSE provides outreach trips to a variety of locations. These include Belize, Botswana, Honduras. Note that GSSP participants will be assigned a trip location depending on availability at the time of course acceptance.
